A dog that runs from grooming has almost always been hurt by it — usually by someone trying to drag a solid mat through with an ordinary brush. That's a tug directly on the skin, and dogs remember it.

This comb has curved cutting blades between the teeth. It works through the mat rather than hauling on it, so the knot separates instead of your dog's skin lifting.
